FROM THE STUDIO: Behind the Scenes of Our 2025 Christmas Collection (Design and Planning edit)

There’s something quietly magical that happens in our studio as winter rolls in.
While most are tucked in front of fireplaces eating slow cooks and sipping red wine, we’re already surrounded by (faux) holly, cypress, spruce, pinecones, bells, bows, berries, baubles, and stars — designing and hand-crafting what will become this year’s Christmas collection.
It may only be July, but for us, the festive season has been underway for months. Below we share what goes into our Christmas collection design and planning for 2025.

IT ALL STARTS WITH A FEELING
Every Curated Botanics collection begins with a simple question: How do we want our homes to feel?
For 2025, we have been drawn to the idea of Heartfelt Hosting — a celebration of sentimental beauty, family gatherings, and the joy of welcoming friends and loved ones. Think classic Christmas elements imagined through an elegant, refined, ‘NZ summer’ lens.
As always, we’ll offer a range of collections within the wider release to suit different styles and colourways. These will have a fresh new look but will be thoughtfully designed to complement previous years’ items (for those building on an existing collection of our heirloom pieces).
Overall, we’ve balanced familiar traditions with calm, curated beauty, so every piece will feel timeless.

THE MATERIALS MATTER
Our botanicals are always lifelike, but for these new collections we’ve gone even deeper — exploring new foliage types and more naturalistic colour variations to reflect the quiet elegance of real seasonal greenery. We’ve focused on creating high-quality, lush pieces that closely imitate nature, with a palette that ranges from zingy, fresh, and bright to rustic, earthy and neutral.
We want every piece to capture the feeling of a New Zealand summer — the season in which our Christmas truly comes to life. And yes, they’re all designed to be reused year after year.

THE STUDIO PROCESS: MORE THAN JUST DESIGN
Designing a Christmas collection isn’t just about making something beautiful. It’s about how it will feel in a real home — your home.
We mock-up each piece at our own home (which doubles as planning for our Open Home September event), to assess scale, movement, tones, and texture, and if it doesn’t feel right — it doesn’t make the cut.

WHAT IS NEW IN 2025
We’ll be revealing the full 2025 range at our September open-home event — so if you haven’t secured your tickets yet, now’s the time!
Here’s a little teaser of what you can expect to see (all items will also be available on our website from September):
A much larger range of artificial Christmas trees in a variety of styles and sizes (from small desk friendly potted trees to larger scale statement trees)
Bedroom styling showcased in two additional rooms — including a special collaboration we can’t wait to share in September – yes bedrooms deserve some Christmas decorating attention also!
A brand-new ‘Floral Christmas’ collection
A large collection of baubles and other tree decorations in fresh new tones and textures (and new tree decorating kits)

Beautiful tablesetting pieces, from tablecloths, placemats and napkins to centrepieces, garlands and candlesticks
Bows, bows and more bows – velvet and more (and rolls of ribbon!)
Brass bells, bases and stars – new colours and sizes
XL statement pieces – sculptures and more

An assortment of stems destined for our 'Jingle Bells' Collection
WHY WE DO IT
Every year, we pour months of thought, care and creativity into the collection — because we know how important these pieces become. They’re part of your family’s Christmas story, part of your photos, memories, and little rituals.
Our hope is that what we create in the studio finds its way into your home — not just for one season, but for many to come.
Stay tuned for the full reveal at our September event, and make sure you're on our mailing list to get early access and pre-order opportunities.
Until then, here’s to the quiet joy of creating something meaningful — one stem at a time!
