Heather’s 1 of 1 Studio Edit is a weekly release of singular, one-of-a-kind faux arrangements, each designed and made just once in our studio. This series allows Heather the freedom to express herself creatively, designing artistic, sculptural pieces guided by intuition, material, and moment — without repetition or constraint. Each arrangement is created for 'one space only'. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
 
Inspiration
Inspired by an edgy, masculine, architectural space — raw concrete paired with dominant, exposed black steel structures. I wanted to design an arrangement that both complements and contrasts this environment, softening the hardness without losing its strength.
 
Design Intent
The goal was to create a sculptural arrangement that adds texture and warmth, while holding its own within a strong architectural setting.
 
The Details
This arrangement is predominantly foliage-led, playing with highly textural fountain grass and toitoi, contrasted against the smooth, glossy surfaces of philodendron and amaranthus leaves. Cascading flax seedpods introduce movement, while variations of earthy tones ground the composition. Only two floral varieties are used — Bowl of Cream peonies in a warm blush-ivory tone, chosen for their layered, frilled petals, and a phalaenopsis moth orchid, selected for its smooth texture and elegantly flowing shape. Placed among the foliage, these flowers create a deliberate juxtaposition — a quiet tension between softness and structure.
 
Where It Works Best
Designed to be viewed from both the front and the back, this arrangement is perfectly suited to a floating console behind a sofa, a central living space, or a boardroom table. It works beautifully in modern architectural homes, or in contrast within spaces featuring softer elements such as undulating, organic Venetian plaster walls.
