Heather’s 1 of 1 Studio Edit is a weekly release of singular, one-of-a-kind faux arrangements, each designed and made just once in our studio. This series allows Heather the freedom to express herself creatively, designing artistic, sculptural pieces guided by intuition, material, and moment — without repetition or constraint. Each arrangement is created for 'one space only'. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
 
Inspiration
This arrangement draws inspiration from the dramatic beauty of still-life paintings, where abundance and shadow exist together in quiet tension. Moody and immersive, the composition feels elegant without becoming overly polished. Colour became the foundation of the design, with layered tones and subtle highlights creating depth, contrast, and atmosphere throughout the arrangement.
 
Design Intent
The intention behind this arrangement was to create a sculptural botanical composition that feels emotionally evocative. Rather than focusing on traditional symmetry, the design embraces movement, texture, and negative space, allowing each element to contribute to an overall sense of mood and quiet drama.
 
The Details
Architectural strelitzia foliage establishes a strong vertical framework, while airy branching seed pods weave throughout the arrangement, creating transparency and softness. Cascading amaranthus introduces movement and an asymmetrical flow that feels natural and organic. The anthuriums, when paired with the gently falling artichokes, evoke richness and romance. Deep oxblood, earthy browns, plum tones, muted greens, and antique pinks blend together to create a palette that feels grounded, with layered textural elements adding depth and softness. The beautiful hand-made and hand-etched ceramic vase is by The Foundry.
 
Where It Works Best
This style of arrangement works particularly well in interiors that embrace mood, texture, and artistic presence. The arrangement pairs beautifully with limewash or plaster walls, dark timber finishes, natural stone, aged brass accents, moody contemporary interiors. Because of its sculptural quality, the arrangement works best when given breathing space and viewed almost as a living art piece, rather than a traditional floral centrepiece.
