Heather’s 1 of 1 Studio Edit is a weekly release of singular, one-of-a-kind faux arrangements, each designed and made just once in our studio. This series allows Heather the freedom to express herself creatively, designing artistic, sculptural pieces guided by intuition, material, and moment — without repetition or constraint. Each arrangement is created for 'one space only'. 
 
Inspiration
This is a fun edit, one that encourages us to celebrate in these cooler months and is perfect for tennis lovers. This wreath is inspired by the iconic spirit of Wimbledon, the world's most celebrated tennis tournament, and was created as a tribute to my sister Abbey, her family and our extended family who have lived and breathed tennis their whole lives (with an equal passion for plants and flowers). Our grandad attended Wimbledon, with our Mum, at the youthful age of 89, after recovering from a broken hip from an accident while serving on the tennis court!

While Wimbledon is renowned for its sporting excellence, it is equally admired for its breathtaking gardens and floral displays. Behind the scenes, an enormous amount of planning, expertise, and year-round care goes into creating the immaculate grounds that have become synonymous with the tournament. Every border, hanging basket, and floral feature is carefully curated to complement the prestige and tradition and colours of the event.

As Wimbledon approaches in the coming weeks, this wreath celebrates not only the excitement of the tournament itself but also the artistry and horticultural dedication that help make it such a visually beautiful occasion. 

Design Intent
The tennis balls act as bold sculptural elements, woven throughout the wreath to create rhythm and movement, echoing the dynamic flow of a tennis match. Surrounding them are lush florals and foliage in deep purple and magenta tones that reflect the carefully maintained gardens of the Wimbledon grounds.
 
The Details
This wreath is built around the unmistakable colour palette associated with Wimbledon and the English summer garden. The vivid yellow tennis balls create striking focal points throughout the design, immediately establishing the theme while adding playful texture and dimension. Soft green hydrangeas and textured green sedum provide a lush foundation, representing the verdant lawns and meticulously maintained gardens that Wimbledon is famous for.

Contrasting shades of purple, plum, and violet weave through the wreath in the form of summery sweet pea, hydrangea, snowball, lavender and sedum reflecting the rich colour combinations often seen in Wimbledon’s seasonal plantings. Delicate lavender-like stems add height and movement, creating a sense of energy and lightness throughout the composition.

The asymmetrical distribution of colour allows the design to flow naturally around the wreath. The result is a wreath that feels abundant, celebratory, and full of life.

It would work beautifully as a feature piece on a front door during the Wimbledon entertaining season, welcoming guests with a unique and unexpected interpretation of the famous tournament. Or more obviously at a tennis club or tennis pavilion!
