Heather’s 1 of 1 Studio Edit is a weekly release of singular, one-of-a-kind faux arrangements, each designed and made just once in our studio. This series allows Heather the freedom to express herself creatively, designing artistic, sculptural pieces guided by intuition, material, and moment — without repetition or constraint. Each arrangement is created for 'one space only'. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
 
Inspiration
Japanese gardens and Wabi-sabi principles heavily influenced this arrangement. Fresh green growth stretches outward with confidence and lightness, creating movement that feels both spontaneous and intentional. The asymmetry and restraint allow line, negative space, and balance to speak louder than abundance, creating a quiet sense of harmony and calm.
 
Design Intent
There is a deliberate contrast between hard and soft, robust and ephemeral. The arrangement explores the beauty found in imperfection and impermanence, reflecting the natural cycles of growth, ageing, and quiet decay. Rustic textures and organic form are celebrated rather than refined, allowing the piece to feel grounded, honest, and deeply connected to nature. The palette remains intentionally monochromatic, exploring green through many tones and textures — from vibrant fresh leaf to deep mossy depth. This restraint allows the sculptural qualities of the materials, line, and movement to become the true focus.
 
The Details
Like a miniature Zen Garden, delicate branching creates an elegant architectural framework, while clusters of my favourite green pompom carnations gather at the base, forming a soft moss-like mound at the neck of the vase. The vessel itself carries a strong Wabi-sabi aesthetic — as though moss and stone have naturally met over time.
 
Where It Works Best
Calm, contemporary, and grounding, this arrangement would sit beautifully within interiors where texture, form, and simplicity are appreciated over excess. Perfect for a modern entryway, architectural home, spa, gallery-inspired space, boutique hotel lobby, or any environment wanting to evoke balance, stillness, and contemplation.
 
Unlike many of my larger statement arrangements, this piece has been intentionally designed on a smaller scale, making it ideal for more intimate spaces. It would sit beautifully on a console, kitchen island, coffee table, bedside, shelving, or small plinth where a subtle sculptural presence is desired without overwhelming the space.
