Heather’s 1 of 1 Studio Edit is a weekly release of singular, one-of-a-kind faux arrangements, each designed and made just once in our studio. This series allows Heather the freedom to express herself creatively, designing artistic, sculptural pieces guided by intuition, material, and moment — without repetition or constraint. Each arrangement is created for 'one space only'. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
 
Inspiration
The inspiration began with the sculptural vase form and some new calla lily stems that arrived in! This arrangement explores the quiet relationship between structure and movement.  Drawing on my  years teaching floristry, and time at art school, I remain deeply influenced by the principals of line, balance, texture and negative space – allowing each stem to play a deliberate role within the composition.   
 
Design Intent
My intent was to create an arrangement grand in size that highlighted the beauty of the new stems and create something that invites the eye to travel through the design.
 
The Details
The new stunning black calla lilies dominate with architectural elegance, the silhouette bold and restrained. At the base, I have contrasted the texture of the smooth calla lily stem with the fluffy and vibrant green, pompom carnation. Cascading burgundy amaranthus leaves are arranged to look like fabric falling in slow folds, the burgundy berry enhancing this rhythm. This arrangement feels grounded, expressive and refined. 
 
Where It Works Best
This arrangement would be best situated in the entrance of a home, living room or reception area, placed on a console, pedestal or side table, it can be viewed from both sides so doesn’t need to be positioned against a wall. This arrangement is quietly striking and thoughtfully composed and will bring a sense of calm sophistication to any space.
